Quality
At SEL, quality of work is assured across all services and languages - thanks to the leading combination of experienced SEL office and freelance staff coupled with the concept of fitness for purpose. For translation, this means the end result is based on the document's intended use. For example, the absolute level of accuracy and turn of phrase are lower in a document being translated for simple information purposes and they are higher in a specialist financial document being translated for public display on the Luxembourg Stock Exchange.
For language training, it means the resulting ability in any participant is based on his/her objective needs. Thus writing in-language is not included if s/he will have a team of support staff to handle that. And if the customer's language of business is English but the training is for another language, then only learning content relevant to meeting and greeting is included in the training.
The same principle of quality regarding fitness for purpose is applied to all 4 SEL services.
- All translations are checked for linguistic, numerical, terminological and presentational accuracy
- The performance of SEL language trainers is assessed for all language training courses
- Further substantiating its quality hallmark, SEL has UK corporate membership of the ITI (Institute of Translation and Interpreting) along with individual membership of the CIoL (Chartered Institute of Linguists) and IoD (Institute of Directors)
- The majority of SEL freelance staff belong to UK professional institutes and/or equivalents in their own country
